I Wasn't Foolin'. Spring is NOT Here in Rockbridge County
The first wave of snow has come and gone. Now, we are waiting for the second tonight. We are ready...propane...camping cook stove...head lamps...chili already made...the old dial phone ready to replace the digital ones...and all electronics charged. We ALWAYS lose power and internet. It is a given out here in the boonies. So far 3 inches...we will see what we have in the morning. School is CLOSED! Hoop-d-Doo!!! Click one time to enlarge and then a second time to enlarge a bit more.
Spring Is Supposed To Be Here
Snow forecast has not changed....saying 3-7 inches starting within the hour. The banners are coming across the top of the TV concerning Sunday closings. Looks like the poor crocus are going to freeze. At least a got a few shots this week when it just cold.

Mr. and Mrs. Red and Woody on a Snowy Day Last Week
Here are some mosaics I made in PSE11 for my BB2 Class #8. The pictures were taken last week during that heavy wet snow. As you can see, I was experimenting with adding type in the second collection. This was the easiest-peasiest thing to do ever. Just a couple of clicks and the pictures were out of the old photo bin and into a mosaic.

Lines of Snow
These deck step shots were taken during the snow last week. Now, the weatherman says we are to get 3-6 inches come Sunday. What's wrong with this picture? I thought it was supposed to be spring. I've seen enough wet snow for one year, and I know Buddy has shoveled enough. Please, Mr. Weatherman, change your forecast.

All God's Creatures Country Inn for Pets
This is "Repurposing" at its finest. It is another beautiful farm I pass on my way to and from school and is in pristine +++ condition. Oddly, I have never seen any cars going in our out, but I do pass it at odd hours of the day.
These last two pictures were taken during warmer weather
as was the first shot.

Mom's Best Friend ~ Jack
Hey, Mom...Do you think I can make it across the "Bridge to Somewhere"?
I promise NOT to go out into the highway.
I'm not sure.
Think I might need to think about this a bit more because it's risky territory.

Nope! Don't think I'll do it today. It sure did hurt a while back when I got my paw caught between those old boards and had to cry for help.We really do need a new bridge, Mom...a doggie proof bridge...PLEASE! I'm going home for a "cookie". That's lots safer and sure tastes better.

THE STATE BIRD OF VIRGINIA
I think I see someone...
OK...I'm gonna go for it...
I was right...Look who's comin'...
Whoa...Things are looking up...
Two little birds sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G...
and go away you nosey birds and give us some privacy...

I have a feeling this is just too good to last...

Two Chairs ~ Three Versions
Assignment 7 for our BB2 class was to take this original picture by Kim Klassen, edit it in LR, and then move into PSE...or do whatever I chose.
It was it totally up to us to decide what we wanted to do.
This is my edit which started in LR with some Presets added, then moved it into PSE, and finally to RadLab for some final touches.
Here I once again used LR, PSE, and RadLab,
but this time I decided to convert the photo into one with gritty sepia tones.
Such cool shadows.

Solid Blue Skies + Red Barns + White Snow = Beautiful Scenes
We finally got a "real" snow last Tuesday night, March 5th. These pictures were taken on my ride home from school on Friday, and as you can see the snow was melting quickly because of the warm temperatures. Still, LOTS of our county was without power up until last night...5 miserable days. The "Y" was opened at 5AM on Friday so the teachers could go there to take showers before work. We were some of the fortunate ones who got our power back within a reasonable time. I may have shot this barn a year or so ago, but it was without snow and not from these angles. I was actually able to pull off the road to take the pictures, and they are SOOC with my Canon Point and Shoot. These are the kids of views we will no longer have when they close our beautiful country school on May 30. So sad.

Plant the Seeds of Your Dreams
iPhoneography
This "Beyond Beyond 2" assignment 6 was to shoot from straight overhead and then once again to let light set off the picture. Buddy is an organic gardener, and these are some of his little bean babies he saved from last year. The rosemary is some we wintered over just by chance in this little vase.
