It is so interesting how the shadows vary from spot to spot. 

It was a HUGE sunny day.

This is the nicest entrance walk to the front door of the school.

Yes, this is moi...my inner child trying so hard to burst out and fly freely.  :-)

Will the children remember them or leave them? 

That is the question. 

This is such a neat thing to have painted on the pavement.

The school playground backs up to a sweet little cemetery.

 People just leave vintage tools in the fields to rust away.

 Maury River 
The red sign in the distance is a warning sign. A high school student went over the dam there and was killed a number of years ago. The currents are pretty severe at times at this location. The old railroad bridge was turned into a footbridge, but it was washed away two times and never rebuilt. I have taken pictures of this area in the sumer but never in the winter.

My Favorite Winter Tree

The rains quit today, and the gray finally gave way to a bit of blue. I was coming home from the grocery store when I decided to stop at my favorite tree and take some picture with my trusty iPhone.

Big House Mountain is in the background. If you look hard enough, you will see a tire swing hanging from one of the branches. Oh, how I wish I could have walked out there and sat in the tire. That would have been such fun for an old lady. I just love the shape and branches of this old tree in the wintertime without any leaves. It is absolutely beautiful.

This is one of those times that I found the telephone pole to be interesting.

This is the fence that kept me from going out into the field.

I am way too old to crawl under barbed wire or climb over a cattle gate.

Across the road is the old homeplace of a fellow former teacher. It has a wonderful view

of Big House and Little House Mountains across the road, and it has heavenly porches on both the front and the right side. It is so pretty.

Finally, as I was leaving, I looked up and there was some blue popping through the clouds.

Bud to the Rescue

The stomach virus I caught from Bud was a killer, but it’s gone and I’m about back to normal. It has been so cold and I have felt so yucky that this week I am using some of Bud’s iPhone shots from his morning runs. He runs rain, sleet, ice, or snow. Nothing stops him!

These two shots were taken this past May.

A Stream-Friendly Farm

Have any of you have Blogger do this to you. I posted the post with everything AOK, but after reading a comment and publishing it I lost that posting and Blogger took me back to an earlier draft. Now I am having to go back and figure out what I said. What a pain in the neck. It is also messing up all my typing and putting words not where I placed them.

Many of the farms around us have little signs on them stating that they are Land Trusts, but I have never seen one like this. The farm is located outside of Staunton, Virginia.

I took this picture from right to center. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but there was still a wee bit of left over snow on the ground.

This is the center shot with the driveway up to the barn showing off the beautiful old unpainted wooden fences.

This is the view off to the right. To me it is so pretty with the fencing, shadows. the small building, and the beautiful sky peeking through the barren trees. It is a beautiful farm.
