Those of you that have know me for ever so long remember how I would stop at this field on my way to school to take photos of the hay bales and the fence day after day. My favorite tree is directly across the road from this. Well, our electric cooperative, BARC, bought the old school where my children went to school, where I taught, and where I walked the track for years while Budud would run and are putting up a solar field. Everything is different now. No lacrosse or soccer field for the children to use in the afternoons and our track is gone. Still, the field behind the building for now is beautiful, and it was such a pretty day I just had to stop, pause, and remember so many days from the past.

#27 ~ Jack in His Maze and Other Snow Scenes
Our World Tuesday at Home
Just a little while ago I walked into the living room, and this poor baby is what I found.
What in the world happened to it?
Maybe it hit the door and then Jack messed with it outside. and brought inside.
The cat does not ever go out.
I tried to get a picture of the yellow on the head so it would help you all to identify it for me.
This always makes me so sad...but NEVER, has one been brought into the house...
that is saved for the mice that the cat catches at night in the lower cabinets.
Yes....We live in a very OLD farmhouse, and you cannot kill all the mice.
My Favorite Tree in the Snow
Hay Bales on the Way Home
Whenever we have a large snow, we build Jack a little maze.
I pretend is the one at Hampton Court.
I have never seen a little dog have such a good time...and his Mommy.
Oops...Buddy, You dead ended me into a big tree. You need to be more careful.
I could get hurt.
Get out here, please, and fix it for me. This is my peeing tree, duffus.
The VA Dep’t of Transportation's big gravel pile.
You can see that they have been moving up and down.
This is our front yard off to the left f the house. I thought the shadows were so cool.

A Variety of Scenes from Rockbridge County
Skywatch Friday
The hale bales and old fence gate behind Highland Belle...my old school.
There were contrails all over the sky going whichaway and that way
but I was unable to get good pictures of them. The sun was blaring down in my eyes, and I did not know where to do to get away from it.

VA Department of Transportation Rock Pile
The crews have already started stockpiling gravel and rock for our icy roads.
and salt for the snowy icey roads that are coming down the pile.
It was such a gorgeous day last week with unusually blue skies blue. The crews have already started stockpiling gravel and rock for our icy roads.
and salt for the snowy icey roads that are coming down the pile.
This shot was taken from the rock pile looking towards the west.
I still love seeing and shooting his tree after many years.
It is beautiful all year long, and it has become my friend.

The buildings of Maple Hall can be seen in the background.
Here are two views of the entrance to maple hall taken about 5:00 in the afternoon on my way home from substituting all day. When I saw the fencing and the shadows with the light as it was, I just had to stop. I adore these old buildings and a trying to learn about each one’s heritage.
Next week I will share with you photos of the actual Maple Hall
which dates back to 1850. My daughter’s wedding reception was held there twenty-five years ago.

I love the landscape, because it is so sincere.
It never cheats me.
It never jests.
It is cheerfully, earnest and honest.

Bud and I have the most beautiful road to drive to and from town. These are the sites we see. They are so relaxing and the temperatures are always cooler by several degrees. We live in a very special place...our little corner of the world.

These hay bales are in a huge field I pass going to and from work...and they are only the first cut. The stash will be far greater in the weeks to come.

Country Air Strip and Hay Field
Four small planes fly in and out of this little airfield which is only about 6 miles from the house. As you can see, it is also a hay field. Guess it was a good thing no one needed to get out today. There was way too much going on for any flight to take off. Enlarge the shot so you can see the planes in the upper left hand corner.
