This picture was taken at the nursing home of my dear friend, Weezie, and Buddy. It is almost impossible to get her to smile, but somehow I pulled it off this time...probably because her photo was being taken with Buddy. We had a wonderful visit, and I will post more pictures of us in the future.

This shot was taken of Eloise some 4 years ago with her favorite toy...

her American Girl doll. She even had a little guitar for her. Oh, my, how 

she had grown up over these past years. She is all grown up and no longer played with her doll. 

I have been out of town for three days, but I did not want to forget Pippa's Friends Meet Friends. I had this picture of my art desk on my computer so I am using it because ART is my favorite toy here in my old age. I play with it every day, and I learn something new every day. It is wonderful.

3-~10~16 ~ Springtime ~ I Love You

Since I am on the road visiting my best friend in NC, I have resorted to two pictures from last year that remind me these beautiful flowers will soon be blooming and there will be lovely colors everywhere around me.

March 9, 2016 ~ Slow Down on the Back Roads

As I was driving home a few days ago, I decided to take a back road. When I got to the little town of Goshen, this vintage car appeared in front of me. Yes, I slowed down and snapped the picture while driving. I know it a no-no, but I was looking at the road - not the camera - with one hand on the wheel...driving very slowly...and just lucked out. He was not driving more than 15 MPR, but I loved every minute of the ride. This is one of those beautiful reasons to be happy. Wouldn't you love to have this?

I grew in the city and always wanted to live in the country in a house way back off the beaten path. Before Buddy and I were married I did rent a place off the beaten path with both indoor plumbing and an outdoor privy, and a spring well. Well, I finally got my dream 37 years ago, but we are living on a 10 acre not-used-as-a-farm-farm that unfortunately happens to be on a main road. So, in my picture I pretended I was living back in the woods. Here I am skipping (as a chid I was always skipping everywhere I went)  home after school...my books in my little basket (the basket reminds me of the little basket I had on my tricycle).  As you can see, I am very happy and cannot wait to see my Mom and have my usual milk and cookies. 

I have just begun using distress inks. I did not even know about them until I started reading other girls' blogs where they said they had used them. This is one of my first attempts working with this new medium. Using the inks was really difficult at first - even after watching lots of You Tube presentations - but it is getting a tiny bit easier and I am getting a wee bit better at not having the inks ending up so dark. It's been a fun experience, but I always enjoy learning something new. Each day I look forward to experimenting with them hoping I will finally come up with something of which I am really happy about.

Below are some changes I made to my picture using PSE 11.

I love this one. I t makes me think I was at a friend's house and was skipping home after the sun went down. My mother had turned on the lights so I would not trip and fall of the path.

March 7, 2016 ~ The Pink Cadillac Diner

The Pink Cadillac Diner has been in Rockbridge County for years and years. It had changed hands a number of times, but a fellow teacher and her husband are running it now. On our way back from a race that Bud ran in in Roanoke on Saturday, we stopped off for apple pie and ice cream. It was SO good! I just had to pull out my camera. It looked too inviting to pass up.

Yes, that is Buddy. The old Cadillac has been there as long as the restaurant.

The fencing is the cutest in its pink and green.

The two top pictures are of the ice cream bar.

You know what the third photo is....yes, my plate of apple pie, ice cream, and caramel syrup.

Coca Cola memorabilia was located everywhere, but this little jukeboxes on top of the big vintage Coke machine really brought back memories. Have you ever been to eat where these were on the tables?

The Manure Movers of America sign hung between the restrooms. So funny!

I thought the "Please Wait to be Parked" was pretty clever. Sorry the picture is not real clear.

I think I am going to have to buy me one of the pink coffee cups. They are so cute.

 All of today's photos were taken with me hanging out the passenger window, iPhone gripped firmly in hand, and yelling..."Buddy, SLOW DOWN! SLOW DOWN! YOU"RE GOING TOO FAST."

A single white barn I caught on Bud's side of car. This one was taken with me hanging over the dashboard trying to keep rear view mirror out of photo.

 Another BARN ALERT barn with all of todaye photos taken with me hanging out the window with iPhone in hand and yelling..."Buddy, SLOW DAN...SLOW DOWN! Look at all that RED.

This horse trailer belongs to the barn above. I see a green John Deere something.

A New Barn Going Up

I have a hunch this could be a horse barn because this is an area of the county where lots of horse people live and there is even a special riding club out there. The Port-a-John adds such a lovely touch to this picture. I cannot help but giggle.
