School Gate Lock on a Foggy Morning

Every morning I go to the old Highland Belle school to walk the track for two miles before the long drive to school. It is what I call my “Morning Constitutional"...aka..."Solving the problems of the world.” Since the building is no longer a school but rather the central office for our school system,  the entrance is locked every night. Today it was really foggy out, and for some reason I decided to hang my Canon around my neck just in case I saw something interesting. Sure enough I spotted this lock and chain which I can now add to my pictures of  “mundane” things that sometimes do very big jobs. I cannot tell you why, but I am enamored with them and will photograph them very chance I get.

It rained cats and dogs all night long so everything was soggy when I got to the old track.

As I said before, it was really foggy. If you look hard enough you can see the outline of a tree on the hill. Also, look at the the second board from the top of the wooden fence and you will see the chain

HAPPY HUMP DAY TO ALL OF YOU

Right Front Wheel on Canon

Chain and Toggle
I do not now what the circular piece is called, but I know
tiny ones are used to close bracelets.

Turner Thingy on Canon
I do not know what this is called also, but it is on the canon.

VMI from the Back
This is a scanned copy of a copy of a copy in a newspaper. This is the way VMI looked after the Yankees burned it.

A Grandmother’s Glorious World ~ The Elf Hunt

My Eloise {in the little jacket} turned 7 this weekend. The photos were all taken at Bryan Park in Richmond, Virginia, on Sunday. She and her friend, Georgia, are elf hunting amongst the trees and the azaleas and doing a bit of posing for me and my trusty camera. It was a gorgeous day and all the flowers were in full bloom. Thank goodness Richmond is only 3 hours from our door in Lexington to theirs.

A Granddaughter is so special
She will fill your life with love
Like a rainbow made with sunshine
When rain falls from above
Precious memories she will give you
Many heartaches and some tears
She's a treasure that is priceless
That will last you all your years
