Here's to You Mrs. Robinson

Thank goodness I am finally back online. My laptop was very ill for two weeks, and I had to wait for my son to come to Lexington to get it up and working again. My entire iPhoto library was destroyed and the backup had not backed up anything. Fortunately, everything was fine with our iMac, and that photo library was not affected. The other problem was my hateful spine had to wait for him to bring me my new high backed, padded, swivel desk chair to sit in when I'm using the iMac. I can adjust it so the back is at a bit of a reclining angle. The seat and arms move up and down and all around, too. It is one heavenly chair. Finally, I am up and running and glad to be back amongst my blogging friends.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of these tiles considering my last name is Robinson and people are always singing the first line of the song to me. It's been going on for years and years! I spotted them just to the side of the steps going down to the lower level. The feet belong to my two grandsons. Too bad the tiles were put there by "Tom" instead of Buddy.

Signs and Fences at Dungeness Wildlife Refuge ~ Washington

Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge is located along the northern coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Clallam County, Washington. President Woodrow Wilson established the Refuge on January 20, 1915 by Executive Order as a refuge, preserve, and breeding ground for native birds. Eelgrass beds and tide flats teem with migrating shorebirds in spring and fall; flocks of waterfowl find food and rest in these protected waters during the winter; eel grass beds also provide a nursery for young salmon and steelhead. The Refuge currently consists of 636 acres, including a sand spit, second-class tidelands and bay, and a small forested upland area. Dungeness NWR boasts one of the world's longest natural sand spits, which softens the rough sea waves to form a quiet bay and harbor, gravel beaches, and tide flats. Dungeness Spit is one of only a few such geological formations in the world which was formed during the Vashon Glacial era ten to twenty thousand years ago.

 Bud looks a lot happier here than he did in the shot I posted the other day. Of course, he has on his favorite purple jacket and is shooting with his new Canon PowerShot D20.  I was talking about it in one of my last posts. Here you can see the size of it. FYI...Canon is now making them in a lemon yellow, and I am asking Santa for one.

A Brand New Home and Barn

I notice now that while focusing towards the family 

I ended up with the barn and fireplace at a slant.

While in Sequim, WA, my son took us by a co-worker's new home and barn where they plan to have a small organic farm. The building came made to order and cranes put it into place. It's huge inside with a high pointed ceiling. In fact, there is room for a fine loft if they ever want one in the future. On each side are three wonderful windows for light and across the front three very large doors which work off of chain pulleys. When we sent inside, the last one in failed to shut the side door, and a little bird flew inside. BIG PROBLEM. We had a heck of a time getting it out, but after much effort it flew out the middle front door. They are nesting in the eaves so I have a hunch there's going to be more episodes of them sneaking in.

Now, for some silliness. I refuse to be outdone by my two sons so when the 47 year old one said he was going to take the Polar Plunge, I said I was going to do it, too. Well, I went to put on my bathing suit, but when I came out there he was in a WETSUIT! He thought he had pulled one over on me. I think not! Only after much twisting, pulling, and old lady contortions was I able to get the thing on me and zipped up. 
Still, we needed a bit of fortification.

Sequim, WA, in Black and White ~ The Boathouse

Just a week ago we were with my son and his family

 staying in the "Boathouse" at the Sunset Beach Resort

 overlooking Sequim Bay in Sequim, WA.

 Do you know what this is? Look at the two shots of the dock below and you will find that it is one of the lights at night.

They were probably my favorite thing about the little boathouse.

Ben (9) and Thomas (7) juggling apples form a tree on the property. This was not our cabin. Ours was down the steps and on the water...the best location in my book.
