A Piece of Me ~ {in the picture} ~ 52 in 52 ~ #8

Taking selfies is really difficult. Here I am in my “cellblock” without any discipline referrals. My principal allows me to read, knit, or do hand work...even mess on my computer when I am not inundated with students. The decorations on the OLD blackboard - the only one in the building - are drawn by my little 6 year old granddaughter, Eloise. I am working on the hand stitched and stuffed Valentines I gave to people for Valentine’s Day this year. I haves the Rebel set on timer, and it is sitting in front of my at another desk.

A Piece of Me ~ {in the picture} ~ 52 in 52 ~ #7

I am one of those older women who has to constantly watch her weight. It is either walk before I leave for school in the mornings or drag myself out on the highway and walk after I get home in the evenings. This was taken with me fully dressed for work this morning about 6:45 at my 1/2 mile point The minute I got back to the car (my 14 minute mile complete) I took off the sneakers and put on my school teacher shoes. Then I pulled off to drive the 30 minutes to my school. Today it was beautiful so I was able to walk another mile when I got home this afternoon. I am not doing very well with my iPhone photos, but at least I am keeping my bargain of 52 photos in 52 weeks in 2012.

A Piece of Me ~ {1n the picture} ~ 52 in 52 #3

January 16, 2012

I have always found the signs of aging in others to be a beautiful thing, but when I look at my feet...well, you know the answer:  wrinkles, bunions, enlarged joints, scaly bottoms, yucky toe nails, veins bulging, and oh, so many wrinkles. This foot surely has done a lot of work these last 72 years... this foot was definitely made for walking.

In the Picture ~ {a piece of me} ~ 52 in 52 ~ #1

WEEK 1
of
{in the picture}
This iPhone shot represents an important piece of my daily life...me sitting in my car for the 30 mile drive to and from work each day. So what better a way to start this year’s self-portrait challenge than a picture of Genie plopped in the front seat on New Year’s Day. We were going over to my best friend’s house to eat lamb, brussel sprouts,sweet potato pie, black eyed peas and rice (Hoppin’ John), collards, and watch our poor old Redskins lose once again. When this picture appeared on my computer screen, I was shocked at all of my wrinkles. For some reason they do not show up like this in the mirror over my basin. Ah....getting old is such glorious fun.One happy note...the strand of beads I am wearing were given to me by my principal this Christmas. They had belonged to his grandmother, but now they are a true treasure of mine. I’m still awed by his generosity and kindness. They are absolutely beautiful.

Here are the words of our “{in the picture}" leader:
"For this month's theme I thought I'd start us out gently. How about "a piece of me"? When you think of a self-portrait, it doesn't always mean you have to show your whole face. Some of the most interesting portraits can be of an eye, lips, a hand, or shot from an angle that doesn't show your face or your whole body. Remember, themes are optional (and only monthly) so if you have another idea or you are shooting weekly or daily selfies, feel free to think outside the box and go your own
"way. This project is all about your self-expression.
