A Piece of Me ~ {1n the picture} ~ 52 in 52 #3

January 16, 2012

I have always found the signs of aging in others to be a beautiful thing, but when I look at my feet...well, you know the answer:  wrinkles, bunions, enlarged joints, scaly bottoms, yucky toe nails, veins bulging, and oh, so many wrinkles. This foot surely has done a lot of work these last 72 years... this foot was definitely made for walking.

  1. It's a beautiful picture, great B & W. Many would give anything to walk the walk that you have walked. One foot very fibrous. Greetings.

  2. I know the feeling. Other people see you differently than you see yourself. They see a friend, a mother, a grandmother, aunt and so on. It's not as bad as you think. Growing old is something a lot of people never got the chance to do. So enjoy it. Judging from your postings I know you are.

  4. Love it - Those feet were made for walking - keep doing what you are doing Genie - I like my age and getting to enjoy life for all these and future years is really super. With all the complaints one hears about seniors or aging - just get on those roller blades and take more photos. that's what I say :)
p.s. yes, I do rollerblade "GrandMa on Wheels" ha,ha

  6. Maybe it doesn't look like the second half of a "Happy feet", but it's a dream for a painter ! Smooth hands and feet are not interesting to draw or paint ! See ...

  7. My hands and feet have aged a great deal since just a few years ago... I find that a little extra care with a really good lotion and buffing off dead skin really helps their looks. Feet are just plain hard working appendages, aren't they?

  8. That my dear Genie is photography as art! Beautiful. And you should be proud of every step you've taken.

  9. Only a woman full of wisdom and self-earned confidence would post such an honest photo and write-up. It puts a whole new spin on our youth obsessed and our beauty-"perfection" culture.
    You are an inspiration.
    Cheers,
    Leah
