WHY? WHY? WHY?

About 8 or 9 years ago I rescued this kitty from the dumpsters. He was skinny and so frail. We names him Trouble with a capital T. I put out fresh water for him every morning and there is water on the floor for the dog, but NO. He has to drink from the john. WHY?????? Cats definitely have minds of their own. He is Buddy’s cat, and if anyone comes for a visit you never see the whites of his eyes. He puts up with me, but he LOVES Buddy.

Little Hats

Each year I try to make all of my Christmas presents, but sometimes I have to purchase a few. I LOVE knitting little bobbly hats with squiggles on the top using Tahki cotton classic yarn, and here are two that  I  just finished. I made the hats so that they can  change as the child grows.  The red one can turn up to make it shorter, and you can see the roll on the pink one pulls down to make it longer/larger. Debbie Ware has many patterns which I have knitted in the past, but now I like to follow her style but create as I go making them my own.

The Vintage Red Ford Truck

The Little Red Truck
Fall Festival and Antique Car Show
Buchanan, VA

The older gentleman who owned this truck told us he had bought it eight months ago. He showed us some photos of it, and it was a mess and looked like it was ready for the junk yard. He did all of the work himself. Would someone please tell me what year and model this is so I can put it into the post? I think the year might well be 1955, because when I enlarge the license it says “ 55 BEAST." Thanks so much.
It is a beauty!

It’s Halloween Time at the Jeter Farm

Our Weekend Visit to the Jeter Farm

“Pleasure is spread through the earth
In stray gifts to be claimed by whoever shall find.”
~William Woodsworth, 1806

Buddy and I had the best time. Thank you Tanya at Around Roanoke, VA,  for your post about the Jeter Farm, because without you we would not have known about it. She included lots of information about the farm if you would like to learn its history. Everyone there was a CHILD...little ones, medium sized ones, and old ones like me. Bud and I did it all. Everyone was HAPPY. No one was yelling at anyone else. No children were crying. People were so polite to one another. IT WAS MAGICAL. We went thru the corn maze, rode the hay ride, children shot ears of corn from an air gun, we shot pumpkins into the pond (we both overshot the water) from an air pumpkin canon, ate Jeter home grown beef hamburgers with roasted corn, walked all over looking at the wee ones have such a good time, and I even went down the hill slide...and my back survived the rough landing at the bottom :-) None of the pictures need any words. They say it all without them. We all need more days like this one. A bit of old fashioned happiness is good for everyone.

WV Trilogy ~ 2015 ~ Part 5 ~ Final ~ Shadows & Reflections

Our  entire weekend was filled with shadows. Here are a few.

Shadows around the Yurts

Shadows up on Spruce Knob Hike

As tradition has it...Bud always takes a shot of me resting...including another shadow.

Here’s Bud trying to get his iPhone to balance on the rock. That was a tricky thing to do. What’s the blob on his face? Is it something on the lens...or maybe just the way the light was hitting it?

He got it, FINALLY, with a wee shadow at the back.

I was so surprised to see the reflection of the trees in the back window...and I think there is part of the front porch in shadows, too.  Packing the car is always such a pain in the old back. Here we had just begun the undertaking.
