The view on the other side of this fence was a real eye pleaser for me. The wind was a-blowin' right smartly, and as always, the picture was taken just down the road from our place. Now, I have a question for y'all...have any of you ever thought about whether I am supposed to be saying "up and road" or "down the road" from my house? Which is which? I was a city girl before moving here 35 years ago, so I do not have a clue as to which is proper and when I should use which one. All suggestions will be greatly received :-)

nice shot. i say down the road, myself.
ReplyDeletehere we think about rural numbers and the higher the number, that is going up the road - the lower the number is down, as in going up and down - but then my sister confuses things and uses the opposite of what I say. I always say whatever feels right for you and there is no right or wrong - whatever those around you say helps too. Leverage in the land plays a part in this too as going up to that mountain in your photo or back down to home! I'm no help at all, am I? he,he, but it sure is fun thinking about up or down the road, Eh!
ReplyDeleteGenie, you probably will have some really kewl answers on this - I'll have to come back and read em.

It's just like saying uptown or downtown. If it's to the north I say up and if its to the south I say down. If it's east or west I don't know. ;0)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the fence and the grass behind it!
I say "down the road", especially now since I live up on a ridge :) Beautiful photo!
