Eloise Staying Cool in the Kitchen
I can remember as a child loving to stand
in front of the fan watching my skirt dance
in the wind.
"What dreadful hot weather we have!
It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance.”
~Jane Austen

Eloise is so sweet -- I remember doing that too (and that's a looooong time ago)! Love the Jane Austen quote.
ReplyDeleteLoving the fan picture. She's adorable. My overheads are a lifesaver in the heat.
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of when I was a child. We didn't have a color television until many years later. Air conditioning was unheard of too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post!
oh, that is too cute! :)
ReplyDeleteshe is adorable, such a lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteI use to do that in front of my grandmother's fan and her floor furnace too. But I wasn't wearing a skirt. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute!
ReplyDeleteAwww...so sweet!
ReplyDeleteO how adorable! Love the smile on her face!
ReplyDeletea great shot for both memes. I have the fan on today and still likes the way it moves the clothing.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot of Eloise and what a great Jane Austen quote.
ReplyDeleteFunny shot! Fans and such are a big part of childhood. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little girl. She is enjoying herself, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great pic - so expressive.
ReplyDelete:)Beautiful shot! All the best!
ReplyDeleteVery adorable! Love the tile floor in black and white. Nice selection!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet !
ReplyDeleteSo cute :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet girl, wonderful b&w
ReplyDeleteThe Jane Austen quote is perfect - such a ladylike way of complaining! Eloise has certainly found the best place to be in hot weather. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute shot, I hope it's helping her (and everyone else) cool.
ReplyDeleteOh, how adorable!! And what fun memories your photo brought!! I love it! Definitely a great way to stay cool and I hope you both do and have a great weekend as well!
ReplyDeleteFans are absolutely the best friends a person can have in the summer. In fact, I'm in front of one right now!
ReplyDeleteShadows Lit with Gold
This is a wonderful view - it goes back a long way to the times when home A/C was unheard of and keeping cool was a quest (probably in VA more so than in New England). A fan is a portable cooling solution that Eloise has found, She is a beauty and I like both the photo and kitchen tile being black and white - it adds a retro look to a child searching for cool - and that was true in any era! Nice!
ReplyDeleteExcellent portrait, very good. A sweet face. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet picture!
ReplyDeleteIt is continuing to turn out to be quite a dangerous ride! Do like your photo - makes me think of the Monroe photo!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, so cute. Great B&W shot!
ReplyDeleteEloise is very photogenic - great picture. I can remember doing this at a young age too - then Mum would take us all to the lake for an early evening dip, put on our PJ's, and we went right to bed when we got home - all cooled off n tired :)
ReplyDeletelovely black and white shot - great shadow outline....
ReplyDeletethis photo is a treasure :)
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful Genie!
ReplyDeleteDiamond shape shadows.
Have a blessed Sunday.

Lorelei had a little handheld fan that she uses on herself...I guess all kids love them. I know I did...and I love that picture of Eloise.
ReplyDelete...and I still like to be in front of the fan on a hot sultry afternoon. Tho, fashions have changed a lot in the last 50 years or so, no more dresses....but oh how your shadow and thoughts of childhood captures that special something in me. Great photo and memory.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous photo, and she enjoyed the wind..
ReplyDeletewhat an adorable little shadow! i remember that i loved to talk into the fan and listen to how funny it would make my voice sound!
ReplyDeleteWow, I should dig out a very similar photo taken of me at the same approximate age. It looks so similar, except there is not microwave in the background!! I was born WAY before they came along.
ReplyDeleteLovely memories. This photo reminds me that I should turn on the fan in my office then I wouldn't feel quite so warm. :))
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute photo, do hope you are having a fabulous summer.
ReplyDeleteLike many other comments, this brings back childhood memories of standing in front of fans and water cooling units, long before central air.
