WV Trilogy 2015 ~ Part 1

 Spruce Knob Mountain Center
Circleville, WV

If  you are interested in reading about "The Mountain Institute", a non-profit organization with a commitment to education, conservation, and community development in the oldest mountain range in the world, go to www.mountain.org/appalachia

Late afternoon sky...10-8-15.  We arrived about 4:30.

Late afternoon sky above the main urt where all the business of the institute goes on,
and where we have race meetings and eat our meals. It is where I go to wait on him :-)
It is the only area where there is wifi for the participants to use.

The sunset was beautiful.

Here it is getting a bit darker.

And finally... that last little bit of a red glow.

This is the first bit of sky we saw looking up through the circle in the roof
of our yurt ceiling. You definitely do not sleep in late with all of this light coming in your room.

Today it is is pouring rain...actually a torrential downpour. Poor Bud.
He must be miserable. This is a tough marathon, and he is trying to run it after months of treatments on the bad hip. We shall see. I’ve got my fingers crossed. For the first time, I did not go with him for the start of the race, but here he is ready to leave the yurt for 10 hours of running. I hope he makes it.

OK, Genie...I’m ready to hit the trail.

Bye!

THUMBS UP!

Sunset over the Chester River in Maryland

After my grandson’s graduation on Friday and a family pool party, it was time to head home to my daughter’s house out in the country. I could not believe my eyes at the sunset that was calling out to me from the skies above. Out came the Canon Point and Shoot, the window got rolled down,  and I went to clicking one beautiful shot after the other. I really could not believe my eyes. It was heavenly. These are SOOC because I just did not want to do anything to them. To me they were beautiful just as they were. This was a real first for me and quite exciting. In the last three pictures you can see the sun moving towards the big farm and then behind it. What a sight for these old eyes.

Skywatch Friday ~ 9-16-11

Sun Setting behind the Teaford House
Rockbridge County, VA

“Once while St. Francis of Assisi was hoeing his garden he was asked, “What would you do if you were suddenly to learn that you were to die at sunset today? He replied, “I would finish hoeing my garden.”

Skywatch Friday ~ 1-7-11

These two sunset shots were taken out in the corn field behind my daughter’s home in Still Pond Maryland. Never in my life have I seen such color....house-on-fire red! She said sunsets like this one are commonplace on the Eastern Shore of the US. For me, it was the special, unforgetable treat to experience that first time.
