Vintage Homes of Lexington, VA ~ Home 1

This beautiful private home is located on the corner of Jefferson and White Streets. I know the owners, and they used to have a B and B there ~ in addition to their other jobs ~ with its own private side entrance. It was built in the colonial~federal style in 1909 by William T. Sheilds, a Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee Law graduate. It has 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths. Both of these schools are located here right here in Lexington which was founded in 1789, and now has a population of a little over 7,000. For years I have been fascinated with all the many old homes so I have decided to do a series on them. The day I took these pictures last week was a cool, crisp, cloudless day. Just beautiful.

This house has WELCOME written all over it.

You’ve gotta love that bright yellow paint.

The scolloped wood siding is so appealing and different.

What’s cuter that a clean, white, wooden, picket fence
with a little gate that works?

I LOVE orbs.

The light allowed me to really capture the shadows
from the old iron gate.

I did rotate this close up of the sidewalk.

This tree across the street was absolutely gorgeous.
