BUDDY AND I VOTED AT 6:15 THIS MORNING!
DONE DEAL!
Now that I am learning LR4, I have decided to MAKE myself learn to use the manual setting on my Canon Rebel. I did not do anything to this shot other than crop it, and I did shoot on manual. I look at the bird shots of my fellow bloggers and want so badly to be able to shoot like them. Well, this is my first attempt, and I am a happy camper. I do not know the names of these sweeties, but I certainly can see them and enjoy their feeding patterns. Maybe there is some hope for me. Class #3 of Round Trip class with Kim Klassen arrives this afternoon. I cannot wait to see what the the lesson is going to be today...maybe some post-processing techniques in LR.
You did a great job with your manual setting. It does make such a difference on the type of photo that you capture. When I was first learning this, I took a million pictures of my feet in different settings. Good subject to practice, and you do learn so much changing things around. Have fun
ReplyDeleteThat's my girl! Always learning!
ReplyDeleteThat's my girl! Always learning!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job shooting this photo on manual. I admire your learning to use lightroom and taking Kim Klassen's class.
ReplyDeleteTilley....Are you Laura? No one else would have that name :-) Hope it is you.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all of your for your encouragement. It is a slow process, but I am working hard. genie
ReplyDeletei think it looks great genie! i keep meaning to try and learn to shoot on manual...one of these days!
ReplyDeletechickadee (not sure if black-capped or carolina) and pine siskins. :)
ReplyDeletegood going!
What a cute photo. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I have the same camera as you. I have a Canon Rebel XS. It's a big step going from auto to manual. Most of the time I shoot in aperture priority mode. That's the AV mode on your dial. I also shoot in raw. If you are not already doing that I would suggest you try it especially if you are using Lightroom.
ReplyDeleteNice shot! I'd say you've picked up on the manual setting quickly. You have a chickadee there and perhaps some siskins, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteYou did great! Once you go to manual you will ever go back to the other way. These look like finches on the bottom of the feeder and a chickadee on the upper perch.
ReplyDeleteYou are a woman to be admired. I fear the manual settings.
ReplyDeleteI think you're wonderful. I want to learn more about manual settings too, but.....
ReplyDeleteOf course we voted weeks ago, by absentee ballot.
Lovely indeed - I have been a fan of "Manual" for a number of years now and love shooting this way. I love the colours in your photo - soft and makes me think the sun is either coming up or going down. Nice Autumn Colour.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Genie!!! Just wondering are you shooting Raw or JPG? This makes a big difference in lightroom also.
ReplyDeleteIlove the photo and as soon as I heal from my heart procedure I am going to do some serious studying too. I particularly like aperture priority as I find it eliminates extraneous things in a photo that you cannot necessarily eliminate. If you focus on the current area of interest it makes for interesting composition and sometimes bokeh.
ReplyDeleteMy Nikon will shot in RAW but then I do not get the EXIF info which I depend on. My Nikon will even shoot and make a RAW + JPG but that mode also excludes EXIF. Rats! i cannot get anything that will do every thing I want in one body or lens!!!
