Since I really do not know what all the blending modes do in PSE, I decided to try to learn a bit. After reading the instructions given on the “Pixel Dust Photo Art” site, I transformed the original shot into the series below using textures from Pixel Dust Photographic Art, Kim Klassen, and RH West Photography. I used the “difference” blending mode on all of them, modified each one with a solid color layer adjusting the opacity. In the end I did a bit of levels and hue/saturation tweaking. It was a fascinating experience which has given me a much better understanding of what can be done when using the “difference" blending mode in PSE10. The way the coloration changed almost blew me out of the ballpark. I could not believe my eyes! They are definitely different, but there is something about them I find very appealing.
