Daily Photo and Skywatch Friday ~ 7-1-11

First Cut

These hay bales are in a huge field I pass going to and from work...and they are only the first cut. The stash will be far greater in the weeks to come.

  10. We saw a lot of good hay cuttings on our way across the country. Must have been a good year. I kept wishing I'd taken a picture..so thanks for this one!

  11. Genie, Lovely, lovely sky. Ike was from Kansas and certainly had it right about farming. You are so right about photography and how much more aware you become. I have said that very thing to a ton of people lately. Since late October I have taken 200 or more sunset or sky photos. I have lived in Kansas all my life and, until the last 6 months, have probably noticed only a "handful" of sunsets --how sad. I'm glad I "pay more attention" now. Have a great 4th of July weekend. Mickie :)

  14. Hiya Genie,

    They look so lovely and fresh, before they are wrapped in the black plastic bags.
    Or don't they do that your way?
    What is that about Amsterdam and the houseboat?
    Didn't grow cannabis on the roof I hope :-)

  15. The bales almost match the clouds for bigness!

    MOST WONDERFUL

    The sky’s a most wonderful thing,
    Enjoyed by both peasant and king;
    No matter the eye
    That sees the bright sky
    The proper response is to sing!

  19. I find those round bales fascinating. They always bring to mind alien artifacts in sci-fi films.

  20. I love those but here they cover them with white plastic and we call them as cow eggs:) I like more the old style without plastic.
