Milkin’ Time on the Farm
This is my world now. Growing up a block from the Atlantic Ocean in south Florida, I found the mountains of Virginia and the farming way of life to be very foreign to me when I moved here 33 years ago. Since then I have grown to love it. We live in a very rural county with residents depending heavily upon what I call "the cattle industry,” and we still have many of the wonderful old dairy farms though quite a few have disappeared. It is a gorgeous part of the country in which to live and rear your family. It is “My World Now.”
"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.”

Beautiful place. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe ocean must have seemed so far away when you landed here!
ReplyDeleteI grew up on a dairy farm, and I agree that it's a wonderful thing! I no longer live on a farm, but am still in the "country". I enjoyed this shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful slice of rural life.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a port town, Kobe, feeling sea breeze, and have lived 35 years since marriage here in Nara surrounded by mountains. I love where I live now, so I share your thoughts and feeling.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is creating something nostalgic in a beautiful pastoral area. Thank you for sharing.
I agree, that is beautiful country! On our trips south, we usualy take I-81 just because the scenry is so great.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great world. Sadly it is disappearing slowly. And I miss those "good old days" even in Sweden.
ReplyDeleteWish yopu luck with nightshots. At least, with digital cameras it is not expensive to experiment.
Beautiful -- I stared at this for quite a while -- it looks like a painting! Just beautiful.
