February 24, 2016 ~ Spring Is on Its Way

Spring Is on Its Way ~ Daffodils
Paper Paint, Pencils, and Pens ~  Bi-Weekly Art Prompt ~ Flowers

My favorite little flowers in spring are my daffodils and because of the warm weather this week they are popping their greenery out of the soil. I have them in all shades of yellow and in all sizes. I’ll go out with my scissors to cut them to bring in the house, and then feel guilty for cutting them. This is my first attempt at trying to capture them on paper and to get the trumpet tops to look like they are above the petals. You can see where I did have some difficulty bleeding the colors, but I hope that will improve sooner than later.  The picture is done with watercolor pencils and light pencil sketching.

  6. Hi Genie, love your beautiful daffodils, spring is on the way when we see these in the garden.
You asked me about texture paste, I use modeling paste from Pebeo or grunge paste from Paper Artsy. Both are a bit like ready made filler paste we use for cracks in walls. Its spread on the page or pushed though a stencil and then left to dry. The metal bits are left over from when I made cards, charms etc and finds from rummage bins at craft or second hand fairs. Even the my husbands washers and cogs aren't safe when I find them.
    Hope this helps.

  9. I like your drawing so much. Daffodils were always my favorite flower , but I never see them in bloom any more, because they don't bloom in Florida (this part of it anyway); and by the time we get home they are gone (my daughter told me this week that hers were in about the same stage yours are already). Homesick!
