This is what I call the “nose cone” on the 1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser I posted 2 weeks ago. I guess somewhere in there is the piece you push to open the hood, or maybe it is just there for good looks. I’ll have to depend upon one of you all to tell me. The reflections were awesome.
After I visited the Transportation Museum, I went window shopping in downtown Roanoke. When I came upon this window, I knew I had to take a picture of it. The standing mirror was in the window full of reflections from outside. I thought it was really neat.
that's a funky nose cone. and that window is busy, busy reflection city!
ReplyDeleteThere is one word for that picture. AWESOME as my 5 year old girl would say. :)
ReplyDeletePS ~ joining your blog! Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteBoth are something else again! Quite startling when one opens your page!
ReplyDeleteThat Studebaker photo is cool. What a neat piece.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great pair of reflections. I like cars today because they are very reliable and useful but they don't have the styling that the older cars used to have.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your other reflection. So many things going on in that photo.
Love the reflection. I like the unity of color between the building and the color of the drapes behind the mirror.
ReplyDeleteTerrific reflections for the day and I would recognize that Studebaker's nose anywhere!! And the second shot has such delightfully busy reflections! I love them! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Genie!

Awesome reflections!
ReplyDeleteLove the 'nose cone'.
ReplyDeleteSaw your comments on Ypres. I have been many years to the WW1 battlefields and cemeteries, something of a fad od mine. My grandfather was in 'it'. No doubt I'll put some more photos on the blog.
Thanks again.
John
You are right!
ReplyDeleteThe reflections on the "nose" were awesome.

Great reflexions :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous reflections!
ReplyDeleteWonderful reflections. I really like the first. Best regards.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of that nose cone...and I loved the mirror! Super shot!
ReplyDeleteOh, Genie, I love the reflections in the second photo. There is so much going on in this photo - truly a classic and of course the "nose cone" is truly neat, with a great showing of reflections as well. Awesome Photos.
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat shot of the "nose cone" on that Studebaker, Genie!
ReplyDeleteThat Studebaker was designed largely by Robert Bourke who also did the fabulous '53 Studebaker Starliner. Studebaker had contracted their styling out to the design firm of Raymond Loewy and Associates. Loewy, who was from France, told Bourke "Make eet look like zee aeroplane, Bob! Eet must look like zee aeroplane!". Thus the front of the '50 and '51 Studebakers looked as if a propeller was to be attached...
That last shot is really cool!
ReplyDeleteGenie I love these very creative reflections! Isn't photography wonderful.... makes you see so much your might have otherwise missed.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to own that Studebaker, you reflection is great!
ReplyDeleteThe window shot is very cool, lots of dimensions to the photo, the longer you look at it, the more treasures you find.
I like both reflections. Very creative! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth wonderful reflections but I prefer the last one with the standing mirror. Great shot
ReplyDeletela deuxième est superbe avec toutes ces écritures
ReplyDeleteMy first car out of college was a Studebaker. I really cannot remember how the hood opened but I believe it was quite conventional.
ReplyDeleteNice photos! Love that old Studebaker grill!
