Old Remington ~ 12-12-11

Old Remington

I basically followed Kim Klassen’s "Typewriter I" recipe in her Recipe Book (she calls for you to use a layer “mustard seed”), but I added a layer of her “mad love" texture at multiply 51% and frame #12 from Coffeeshop. I love Kim’s Recipe Book and being a part of her Test Kitchen. She is so kind and generous with her creativity and instructional knowledge. I have taken two of her courses which I also can recommend.

Since I cannot do a “mouseover” to save my soul... have tried and tried and tried to figure it out to no avail. I just don’t get it. Going into the HTML and making the changes is too confusing for this old worn out brain. So, pretend you are doing a Genie-style mouseover and take a gander at the “before” shot. This is better than nothing at all. Where there is a will, there is a way.

  5. I wouldn't even begin to think of doing a mouse-over post. What are you thinking? (^;

  7. Oh my, do we love this...and the texture is amazing! We get Kim's newsletter, but we've been slacking and haven't tried playing with her textures yet....I think we might have to break down and just do it!

    I'm climbing the digital mountain too. I still haven't been able to use a layer. But I don't give up.

  9. Hi Genie,
    I love what you've done with textures in this piece!!! They added so much mood and feeling to this capture! A very sweet old typewriter, too:)

    In answer to your question, the sculptures by Fred Smith were created with a framework of wood, over which he put mink wire, and then cement with "embellishments". I gather that there use to be a mink farm in the area at the time he was working.

    Happy week to you!

  11. Some days (but not too many) I still miss my manual typewriter!

    SOMETHING RED

    Something cherry, something blue,
    Something scarlet just for you;
    Something blazing as the sun,
    Something red when day is done.

  13. It is not easy, but if I can use a computer, so can you. I have used a typewriter like that, but I could not start to use it now.

  14. Love the Remington ... we were an Underwood family ... it was all black and I loved typing.

    What would old movies be like, without writers & reporters tapping away, surrounded by crumpled papers?

    I came here from Rednesday. Hurray for VA !!!
