WiFi has been down since last Tuesday morning and today is Monday, Sept. 26th....I have called and called to no avail. It is STILL down. Please forgive my not commenting on your posts and not posting anything myself, but hopefully it will be back and running again this week sometime. I have gotten only double talk from the provider....i.e. we sent in work order for you and another person out where you are, but Century Link only got the one...sure. I really believe that one. The other house got fixed two days ago. Ours was supposed to be up and running yesterday AM at 9:21 at the latest, but NO SUCH LUCK. We use WiFi to operate our Verizon black box that boosts the signal for our cell phones out here in the boon-docks. We watch Net Flix and Hulu on the TV because we refuse to pay the inflated prices of Direct TV and that requires WiFi...so no PBS or National Geo TV...am reading books, cleaning, and fretting and grumbling...grr, grr, grr. Can’t wait to see all of your posts from the last week. I know they will boost my morale. Thanks for my GF across the mt., I am on line now just for a bit. Take care and I will be back on line soon. When will this end...almost a full week now:-(

Signs, Signs ~ 9-22-11
Kerrs Creek Dumpster Site Recycling Containers
I took these shots with the trusty iPhone on my way to work yesterday...another very foggy morning. I drop off the garbage each morning faithfully. The garbage containers are on other side of lot. Our area of the county is very recycling oriented, but sadly we are not provided with enough containers. The clean-up is leased out to a private company, and the drivers come at least 3 time a week to haul it all off. Still, that seems not be be enough. There is one main recycling center on the other side of the county, but most people do not want to drive all the way over there to leave their items.

A Watery Our World Tuesday ~ 9-20-11
This pond is less than a mile from the house and on the route I drive when I go to see my best friend. Buddy runs and bikes by it everyday, too. So many people have ponds like this our here in our little part of the country.
“When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing ~ just sitting and looking at the sea or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?”

The Homeplace Barn ~ 9-19-11
Barn at the Homeplace
Catawba, Virginia
This barn is part of the old John Morgan Family Homeplace, set on 600 acres, and built in 1907. The Morgan family raised purebred horses, beef cattle, and later ran a dairy farm. In 1978, the buildings and 63 acres were purchased by Harold C. Wingate. Renovation on the home structure began in 1981, and The Homeplace Restaurant opened for business in 1982. The Wingate Family currently owns 150 0f the 600 acres. The restaurant in the old homeplace is out of this world, serving country style meals which we think are the best. A full dinner with 2 meats is only $13.00, and for a 3rd meat you will only pay a dollar more. Their roast beef is to die for.

Mr. Bug Eye ~ 9-19-11
Mr. Bug Eye Sitting on My Mini Sunflower
(taken with my iPhone)
The photos in this little mosaic were developed in an iPhone app called “iBooth.” It was the best 99 cents I have spent in ages. There are all kinds of funky and cool things you can do once you import your photo. These three are called: kaleidoscope, light tunnel, and swirl.

Spider Web or Christmas Lights? ~ 9-16-11

Signs, Signs ~ 9-14-11
Getting Ready for the Virginia Beach Marathon
Thank goodness for the Elite Seats Port-a-Johns.
Guess this is Mr. Elite lowering one of the facilitles...
There were several getting lowered from the back of this truck...
Lots of Elite Seats....
Lots more Elite Seats......
And finally...here we have what I think is one of the Elite Seats Sucker Uppers!
After the intensity of the weekend and the memories and memorials to 9-11,
I thought I’d post these shots for a bit of brevity.

Fun and Games at Sandbridge ~ VA Beach, VA.
I am still in shock that I was able to get a shadow and a reflection, both, in the first picture. I had no clue until I saw it on the computer screen.

Skywatch Friday ~ 9-9-11
Twin birds and planes....pretty cool. Who would know from these skies that we were 3 days late for our beach vacation due to Hurricane Irene. This is the way the skies were the entire time we were at Virginia Beach in the area called Sandbridge. It was amazing.I am not so good at capturing the likes of water fowl and planes in flight because I get dizzy when I look towards the sky. Somehow I managed to pull it off this year, but I really do wish I had a better telephoto lens. Maybe I will ask Santa for one.
