My Baga is losing her “Followers” a few more each day. Please read what I have to say.
My name is Eloise, and I am not happy.
The more I think about it, the more upset I get.
Oh dear, this is it. I’ve lost it.
OK, Google...I, ten year old Eloise, am extremely upset with you. What are you doing messing with my Baga’s “ Followers”? You are taking them away from her a few each day. This is not nice thing to do if you ask me. She has spent years earning the trust of her followers, and now you are just dumping them in the trash. Well, I’ve had it. When you upset my Baga, you upset me more.
Below, my Baga has put together as many updates as she could find regarding this HUGE change in your approach to your blogspot.com members. I hope all that you blogspot bloggers who are having problems like my Baga is will read these. Maybe it will become a bit clearer. Poor Baga....she is totally confused and does not know what to do.
The really sad thing is Baga was so excited when he finally hit 250 followers she made a special little gift for that person. Unfortunately, she didn’t pay any attention to the number, so now she has the gift and no #250. She said to tell you if you were #250 to let her know, and she will send you your little goodie.
It was fun talking to you. Maybe one day I will have a blog, too.
Eloise

An update on Google Friend Connect
December 21, 2015
In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.
As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.
We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.
We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers.

Here is one of the older Google releases I just found from 2011, but it tells you what they are planning on doing. This is the part that refers to Google Friend Connect. The rest of the post I left out.
More spring cleaning out of season
November 22, 2011
This is our third blog post in our off-season spring cleaning series. To recap, we’re in the process of shutting a number of products which haven’t had the impact we’d hoped for, integrating others as features into our broader product efforts, and ending several which have shown us a different path forward. Overall, our aim is to build a simpler, more intuitive, truly beautiful Google user experience. In terms of the details, here is the latest update:
- Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We're retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.
Here is a reply I found last night. Mary had written about her concerns of losing her followers day after day. This is Joan Davis's reply. Being a non-techie I do not really understand it.....

I read somewhere last night that we should expect to lose 10-20 % of our followers....UGH! No one in the thread I was following was happy. Many had lost way over 100 friends, and it is continuing. Some of the people commenting were writing in non-english, so it is happening all over the world. None of the comments I read, and there were so many, were positive.
