I wouldn't get too close to this snapping turtle. They earned their name honestly. Hope he got safely across the road and into an area better suited for an old turtle.
That is so cute!! ...but it's funny because I had a very similar shot I almost used this week! But it was of a Gopher tortoise, a very different looking turtle.
Hi Genie! Did he come up out of your creek just for a portrait session? :)
In answer to your question, yes, I am ready for fall. It's one of my favorite times of the year. The temps are in the mid 70's and I'm really enjoying it.
Great shots, but way too close to a snapper for me! (They can stretch those necks out a looong way to strike like a snake. I nearly got a toe bitten that way once. LOL)
That is the strangest looking tortoise/turtley thing I have ever seen! Such a funny face!
Well, I'm glad the other commenters named him, because I had no idea what he was. I've heard of snapping turtles, but we don't have them in England. Our little tortoises are from Greece, I believe, and are totally harmless, unless you trip over them!
Not walking on the road is better for your health.
ReplyDeleteHa - did you find this guy on the road - NICE..... and of course you made sure Mr. Turtle got to the other side, eh :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat looking turtle!
ReplyDeletehe's huge!! what a big turtle. snapping i guess. ( :
ReplyDeletethose snappers are so prehistoric looking...
ReplyDeleteNow that's a turtle with remarkable presence. What a brilliant find.

ReplyDeleteYes, some nice pictures, beautiful turtle, an animal very archaic! Greetings!
ReplyDeleteThat turtle as a face only a mother could love.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to make the owls. You can buy them and then do something with it.
Great shots!

Fabulous shots of this strange looking critter.
ReplyDeleteWith snapping jaws and long nails this guy looks like he defend himself if he had to.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie, hope he managed to cross the road without harms.
ReplyDeleteI think I would give this one a wide berth- snappers are mean little buggers if you get too close! Nice capture!
