Buddy, Stephanie, and Victoria at the Trail Nut Half Marathon and 10K

Welcome to my world as the wife of a running junkie!

Front View
Bud's new mini lightweight vest for racing. It holds everything he needs.

 Rear View
Pretty funky wouldn't you say?

Just look at that crazy man go!

Bud at Mile 9 of the 10K ~ about 4 miles left to go.  The race was set up so the 10K runners actually crossed the finish line at two different times. This was due to the Half Marathon and the 10K being run simultaneously.

Victoria Tolley Black ~ 9 Mile Point
A middle school Spanish teacher I have  worked with and known for years at the 9 mile point.

The Knee of Victoria Tolley Black
Trail runs are not without cuts and bruises.

 Stephanie Blackwell Stewart
I taught Steph in 6th grade. She and my son, Gene, were in the same class and the best of friends.

Bud at the Finish Line with Josh Giving Him a High-Five

Josh Gilbert and his wife, Gina, have been the organizers of the Mountain Junkies sine 2001. They sponsor a number of wonderful trail runs/bike races around the Roanoke Valley in which Buddy loves to participate. During the week they are doctor and office manager of Gilbert Chiropractic. If any of you live in the area and might be interested in their sponsored runs, go to: http://www.mountainjunkies.net

These pictures were taken by the Mountain Junkies' worker bees. All are free and put online for the runners to enjoy. This is one of the pluses of running with Mountain Junkies;  another is all of the fine, fine, homemade food for after the runs. The final one is the drawing at the completion of the race for goodies given by hiking and outfitting companies...really fabulous prize drawings.

  8. I really enjoy trail runs. They are friendlier than the road races and are easier on old guys knees like mine if I don't fall.

I'm going to have to get me a vest. I can't be outdone.

  11. Congratulations to Buddy, Victoria & Stephanie on finish line - sweet feeling. Ouch to the scrape on knee and to keep going. Buddy looks great and great colours and nifty vest. This sounds like a great day Genie. Fun to be a part of whether you are running, or viewing, with all those goodies waiting to be tasted. Have a wonderful day.
