More of Genie’s Love for Mechanical Parts

SOOC

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am ALWAYS looking for old bits and pieces of machinery and mundane odds and ends that do big jobs. My students had to explain to me that the last one was of an old concrete mixer. Am assuming they are correct. It sounds reasonable to me. What those gears go on I do not have a clue other that it has to be one big piece of machinery.

My final contribution this week is a bit out of the ordinary. My “cellblock” is next to the boy’s restroom so each afternoon we go in to check for typical middle student foul writings on the stalls. I have to check the carrels in my room, too. Well, I just couldn’t resist the urge to take a shot of the urinals. The place was very clean. Actually, I think they turned out pretty cool all lined up along the wall. It was a good afternoon. I got a good picture, the stalls, and all the urinals were clean. No creative writing.

  3. Are the boys who use the room in the last shot "Pisscopalians"?
The inquiring mind of «Louis la Vache» wants to know...

  6. I too smiled at the last shot. I was in the loo of the cities art gallery a while back and took a similar photo but have yet to use it, worried a tad about the taste thing.

  8. Yes, the photo is an old concrete mixer, from the Olde Days, and still very much used these days. Ya just cannot seem to break olde machinery - it ran forever.
Those wicker chairs would look nice under your tree by your brook. I found an olde one last year and painted it, put it under a tree in back yard and right now it has a potted plant sitting on it. Love these ole machinery photos Genie - a girl after me own heart. Have a great weekend.

  13. I can imagine a teenage boy telling, Pssst, I saw Miss Genie in the boys bathroom.

In my school, we have unisex bathrooms. In one with just ne stall, a male tescher was washing his hands, and he told me to come in. I wasn't going to, because I was with some young kids. Imagine them saying, Ann was in the toilet with mr. so & so,

  18. An El dorado even for me here, I love such things. Collect and re - use, mostly for completely other purposes than what they were meant for. I notice the fine electric motor or/and generator in the first picture, a good and useful item :) Best wishes for the weekend!

  19. Love the bottom shot. If you get the chance to go back to the cog wheels, try the second shot but with wide aperture and narrow depth of field, I think the wheels would like even better then against a slightly less focused background. Just a thought.
