These pictures were taken at a good distance from the actual fire. I am not about to go sightseeing to get a better shot of a big forest fire. As of tonight, the winds have changed and blowing back towards us...not good. 12,000 acres have already burned and the fire is only 30% under control. I still have all important documents and the lock box key on the dining room table ready to leave if we get that feared knock on the door. There are 4 other fires still burning, and today the “Monster Museum” burned while fire fighters fought it for over two hours. There are lots of questions and theories going around...the scariest one being that the fires were intentionally set. We are supposed to get a bit of rain tomorrow, so if it gets here it will help a lot. This is definitely Our World Tuesday and a very scary one.

I hope everything works out in your favour.
ReplyDeleteThe fires are scary but the skies look so beautiful. We are being warned about fires since the area is so dry. We need some rain. Wonderful photos. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHow awful the woods are still burning. Hop they can stop it and rain will come to help. Wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteIt's horrible that the woods are in fire, but the photos are breathtaking!
ReplyDeletei hate this for you, genie, and for all your neighbors. we had terrible fires in texas last year - some too close for comfort - but none in our immediate area got that large or dangerous. i will pray that you get rain!
ReplyDeleteThe forest fires have been so dreadful this year! I do hope your area will be safe soon! You did get some glorious captures! Such beautiful skies and colors and cloud formations! Take care, Genie, thanks for sharing the beauty!

Still burning......has to be scary. I haven't heard about this on the news......stay safe. Glad you are prepared. Maybe you should put those special items in your car just incase you would away from home and not be able to return. Got all of Eloise's pictures still in your suitcase.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.....pray for rain.
It's been so dry -- no wonder the forests are burning. Take care Genie!
ReplyDeletePS -- here's the link for the frame you asked about: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2515/4160704117_594eacf962_b.jpg
You strike me Genie as the person I want to be on a lonely island with - well prepared regardless of what is happening around you. The ability to laugh, face your fears and still take time to take stunning photos even though a devastating fire burns around your area. I do pray for lots of rain and hope you keep safe and this will all be over soon. Take care Genie, you are indeed very special.
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys get a little rain so the fire can get under control.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Genie, but not good that the beautiful colours and light is caused by forest fires. We have an ever-present problem of bushfires here in Australia, so I am very sensitive to this issue.
ReplyDeleteReally spectacular and delicious, high quality photos, I like all but the light of the former is a true delight. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but scary.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Genie. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere are pros and cons to forest fires but it is dreadful when life and lives are impacted.
ReplyDeleteAlthough your pictures are so beautiful it must be a horrible situation !
ReplyDeleteI surely pray for rain for your world...
ReplyDeleteNature's fury can be so beautiful. Hoping rain comes your way today.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, but what a scary situation.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a lot of rain.
Take care.

The fires ae scary, and as they edge closer to anyone, fear abounds. It may make for exotic skyscapes, but still fearful. Sounds like you are prepared for a quick exit. Hope it is not needed.
ReplyDeleteHope you are soon free and safe from the fires!
ReplyDeleteYour photos look beautiful, though!
Thanks for visiting me at Junie's Place. Hope you will come again!
I hope the rain comes to help squelch the fire. Awesome and fearful images that are so dramatic, but to threatening to fully enjoy! All the best....
ReplyDeleteOh goodness I am sorry to read this, but as it is two days later I am hoping it has calmed down by now. Stay safe, the photos are beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteI am frightened for you -- please take care and be safe. Although it seems almost ridiculous to say so at a time like this your pictures are beautiful at the same time as frightening.
ReplyDeleteWow. These are incredible. At first glance, I thought they were sunsets and once I read your post, I was totally saddened by the thought of intentional fires being set. I hope it has stopped and that you weren't evacuated. Scare stuff. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how all that destruction brings such beauty. I do hope you get rain, and that you stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible thing! Great photos, but still terrible. I also live in an area VERY prone to wild fires. Don't like it a bit!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, but very scary!
