Rural Beauty ~ Restored and New

This old, old home has been completely restored, and it is absolutely gorgeous. It looks to me to be Civil War vintage. I pass it each morning on my way to school so have been following the restoration on a daily basis.

This is a brand new barn, and it is one of the nicest I have ever seen. Love the star at the top.

Close up of the upper section.

Another shot of the front. Be sure to note the stone wall to the right rear.

Processing #1 of another shot.

Processing #2 of same shot.

This is what I assume is the spring house, root cellar, or a restored small storage building. I do not have the nerve to walk up onto the property to find out which it is so your guess is as good as mine.

Just for fun...this was the barn until I plugged the picture into one of my iPad apps called “My Patterns.”  It’s lots of fun to play with when I have lots of time to spare because once I start cannot put it down! The patterns you can create are endless.

Your photos of these buildings are lovely-I like the way the views are through trees, and the treatments you have used on some of your pictures too.

  20. Wow Genie!
I think the owners of that house should have your first photo hanging on their wall. :)
I love that stone wall in front of the house.
While the barn may be new I really like the vintage look of it. The cool pattern at the top of the barn - ventilation maybe - and the centered star is a lovely decorative addition.
LOVE that dreamy shot of the little log house!

  26. You're telling me that someone just built that barn? Made of wood? Just recently? I'm shocked! Most people that build new barns these days use metal... That's incredible! You have to find the owner & give them a hug for me for this! WoW! It's a gorgeous barn, of course, but I'm so amazed that it's built of wood & the stone wall is such a beautiful added bonus!!!

Thank you so much for joining in & linking up! =)
