Watery Wednesday ~ 7-13-11

Our Wonderful Creek ~ Kerrs Creek
This is one of six little waterfalls my son built for us over the 4th of July weekend. I am waiting for just the right light to capture all six at one time. He worked for two days shoveling silt, pebbles, and heaving huge rocks and boulders. He does this every year, and then the rains come and wash it all away until the next year. It is just wonderful sitting out there and hearing the water running over the rocks.

  1. that is the coolest thing
    and the coolist kid to do that for you!

  2. How cool is that!? Were you laying down to take this shot? Great angle.

  3. what a wonderful idea! the sound of moving water is one of the most beautiful sounds. i like the angle, too.

    thanks for visiting my watery post.

  4. Such a nice and peaceful place to have a nap in the summer afternoons!
    Thanks for sharing, Genie. And thanks for the lovely comment you've left in my blog;o) If you ever come let me know;o)

  5. I love your perspective on this pic and the story behind it.

    As a kid in Utah, me and the neighbors would build multiple dams and waterfalls in the irrigation ditch in front of our house.

  6. a shame that it is only temporary, but surely a labor of love.

  7. These waters are close to your home? Then you are blessed indeed!

    Feeling rather ducky?
    Here’s what I would do:
    Find a pond or puddle,
    One that’s right for you;
    Take a sturdy life vest,
    Strap it on your back;
    Jump into the puddle,
    Give a little quack!

  8. How nice of your son to do that, but I bet he enjoyed working on it. There is nothing as peaceful or soothing as the sound of water running over the rocks in a stream or creek. Nice place to relax for the afternoon. Mickie :)

  9. What a great sun to rebuild the falls for you every year!

  10. Awww, how sweeet! Great perspective & can't wait to see all six in one shot! WoW! =)

  11. Running water is so soothing! This looks like a delightful garden feature!

  12. Wow, I like your son! Envy your eautiful creek:)

  13. Gorgeous shot!

    Watery Wednesday post at my page, please drop by if you can. Thanks!

  14. your very own creek? My parents has one when I was a baby. Rang though the rubber garden, and they widen it so it was like a pond of water.

  15. I love the way the water looks rushing over the rocks.
