Oh, Happy Day!
I found another vintage bridge in Rockbridge County.
Collierstown at the Old Potter’s Mill
Collierstown at the Old Potter’s Mill
Vintage 1916
In disrepair, for sure...
This old bridge is about 5 miles from the house, but on a road I do not travel often. It was 104 degrees outside when I was taking these shots on Friday. The exterminator was here to rid us of fleas, so Jack and Trouble and I had to be OUT of the house for 4 hours. Put my babies on the back deck where it was very shady, and I hit the road with my sack lunch.

Very lovely captured!
ReplyDeleteSo your day was fruitful afterall, finding this beauty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat old bridge! I like the closeups of the details too.
ReplyDeleteBuilding bridges both metaphorically and in reality is important. Good shot of an old 1916 bridge. Hope it isn't in unsafe condition tho.
ReplyDeleteOld bridges provide some wonderful picture detail as long as they don't collapse. LOL
ReplyDeleteHah! Louis got a lot of nice old truss bridges this week! And this one is no exception. I'm so used to seeing roads and bridges and lots of stuff in disrepair in Asia that I don't even notice it any more! Well, maybe I exaggerate a bit, but it certainly doesn't surprise. Hope you get some relief from the heat soon, Genie... it can be so tiresome when it's hot for too long.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous old bridge but what were you doing outdoors at 104°? That's HOT!
ReplyDeleteHey Genie, I love your bridges! I just checked out the instructions for the vintage frames and it isn't anything I would even consider trying - way way way too complicated for me! I will admire yours and leave it at that. but thanks for the info! have a great day.
ReplyDeleteGawd, I love these old bridges, we have a *ton* of them around here all built in the late 1800's. I'd hate to have been kicked out of the house Friday, it was too hot to enjoy the outdoors.
ReplyDeleteSack lunch and a ton of water I hope! That is hot. But the picture is lovely and interesting historically...glad you took the camera with you. And hope your A/C is working. And that the bug guy worked his magic.
ReplyDeleteNice find Genie! It must have been a pleasant drive and felt like a productive day after having made new discoveries. Nicely photographed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic looking bridge, and I like the second photo with info in it.
ReplyDeleteYour hibiscus shot is just lovely. Had to comment though here, what a beautiful old bridge, great captures all three.
ReplyDeleteI like these old bridges, too...
ReplyDeleteI love old bridges, I also love that you sort of dissected it with the camera. The construction is so interesting. Especially the fastening bolt on macro monday.
