Nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment...I used to be color-only, until I started blogging. Some other bloggers whom I admire do a lot of b/w work, and I started to play around with it. Now, I like both.
I love the tones in the peace lily flower. They are so good in monochrome.
ReplyDeleteGreat b&w photo and the words so wise.
ReplyDeleteI think I had one of these once. :)
ReplyDeletecan I steel your "Word verification free" button?
Flowers can be tricky, so I use a tripod and try to find something to block the wind to keep them from moving the flower.
ReplyDeleteOn the 20 minute exposure, your XSi has a 'bulb' setting for the shutter speed. In this mode, you press the shutter once and it stays open until you press the shutter again.
If you do this, you need a tripod and to use a remote shutter release, like the canon rc-1, otherwise, pressing the shutter will make the camera shake.
I set up the shot, pressed the rc-1, went in the house and set a timer. When the timer went off, I pressed the rc-1. Another trick is to use an intervalometer, which costs about the same ($40-50).
B&W works so well for this shot; the beautiful, flowing outline of the petal is especially highlighted.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Genie. I like the use of black and white.
