Mother Nature Has Done Her Thing Again ~ March 30, 2011
When I got to work this morning, the sky was clouding over but there was still a sky to shoot. A few hours later, as the students were changing classes, I heard coming from the hall in front of my windowless room... “IT’S SNOWING!” Being that teachers are no more mature about snow than their pupils I headed for the windows in the library, and there was that magical snow raining down from the heavens in all of its glory...big, wonderful flakes. Quickly I charged outside with the trusty Canon point and shoot, but when I looked up I could’t see the sky or the mountains. We were in what folk here in the country call a "Virginia style white-out” - no mountains and no sky - just lots of gray and lots of snow flakes. It only lasted for about an hour, but what an hour it was. I know these are different photographs from the sunrises, sunsets, and blue, cloud filled skies I usually post, but I just couldn’t resist sharing with you the beauty of the gray one I saw today with the snowflakes floating to the ground.
“Nature has no mercy at all. “I’m going to snow. If you have on a bikini and no snowshoes, that’s tough. I am going to snow anyway.”

Another gem, with the flagpole.
ReplyDeleteHard to see the sky through the snow today I bet.
I would have thought VA was milder.
Lovely spring shots, snow and all.
ReplyDeleteDid you get a "snow day"...lol..
ReplyDeleteGreat snowy shots.
ReplyDeleteThe flag picture looks like you scanned an old faded photo. Nice effect.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. There's a certain charm about spring snow, however much we long for the season to move on.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see the flagpole with the American flag. Do all schools have this? And is the other flag the State flag? We're not so patriotic in the UK.
beautiful snowfall.:p
ReplyDeletei've experienced snow just once, and it was in Texas...very light, but it was snow, and i loved it!:p
Seems like this winter just won't give up and go away. From time to time we experience a "Virginia style white-out” in the Ozarks too.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the snow!!
ReplyDeleteThis I do...
