Another Beautiful Morning in Rockbridge County

Before Edits ~ SOOC
I thought it looked pretty cool in this original shot, but I wanted to see how it would look if I toned it down a bit. I was really amazed at the changes I was able to make.

After Edits in Lightroom and PSE
(could have been a good sunset for Halloween night)

The original shot appeared to me to be a good one to try fiddling with- blues, white, pink, sun on fire -  so my goal was to change it a bit. This sunrise took place Wednesday morning on my way to school. I have learned how to get the pictures into PSE after manipulating them, and I can work on them in PSE, but i am having one heck of a time getting them back into LR. Am gonna work on it again today and see if I can figure it out. You can tell I did something wrong because my watermark that usually appears in the lower far right corner is not here. UGH! If at one you don't succeed...try, try again.

This is my contribution to Skywatch Friday this week.

  1. Now you are getting the hang of it. There's a big difference between the two photos. Don't forget that SOOC has edits done to it by your camera.

  2. I like the original too.....I only know how to brighten/intensify my pictures with Picassa; I know it sometimes makes them look like cartoons or Hallmark cards, but sometimes I don't care, I just need bright color even if it is fake!

  3. i love the original, your edit is nice too!

  4. The vibrant colors in the first shot would be my preference, but the edited version does have a spooky feel. Once I do my edits in PS, I just hit Save and the TIFF image in LR is saved with the PS edits.

  5. I am with TexWisGirl as this was a winner straight out of the camera.

  6. Genie, don't mess with perfection! Love the original - it's a gorgeous shot!
Not saying I don't like the edit I do. It has a haunting feel to it that is quite nice.

  8. It's a beautiful photo to start with and fun to use different effects to change the dynamics! I love working with photos but don't always take the time to do this!

  9. I have no clue what you did, but it really made a difference in your photos. I still like the first one better.

  11. If you are shooting your photos in jpg format depending on your camera it will sharpen the image, some will will apply noise deduction. Saturation will be added. If you are shooting in landscape mode the saturation will be higher. These are just some of the things that come to mind. It's not for everyone but I do all of my photos in raw format. A raw file records the data whereas jpg records pixels. Switching to raw is as much as challenge as going to manual. You are using Lightroom so I would suggest you give raw a try. You will need to read up on it. Keep in mind that I am a amateur.

  16. so beautiful Genie... I love the first image... but both are exceptional each in their own way.

I hope that you will consider sharing an offering for this year's 4th annual gratitude word quilt. You can find information about the project and how to participate at the top of my blog. If you’ve already sent something thank you and please forgive my poor memory. The quilt is growing quite expansive and with only first names, I can’t always remember who already shared. Feel free to write in your native language google translate is available on my blog so every one can read and understand one another. Every Blessing~ Laura

  17. A great edit, very halloweeny! Glad you are enjoying lightroom, I love it too :)

  18. genie, i dont use lightroom for editing but to reference your trouble getting edited images between lightroom and pse you have to determine if you are still editing the original or not,
take for example if you created your catalog of originals in lr and then tell it to open in pse, is it the original file being opened or a copy,
or if when you complete your work in pse are you saving as a new copy?
to me the catalog would update the original in lr if the changes in pse were to the original
finding out which file you are actually applying changes to might help your frustration!
good luck and keep on truckin!
