The Waterless Dam

The Dam at Douthat State Park

Much of the lake has been drained for maintenance so there is no water running over the dam. There is still water at the lower lever, and there you can see reflection in the water. The area behind the dam is a beautiful field of grass with a walkway above the lake. We were so disappointed that the lake was not its beautiful self, but we understand that maintenance during the slack months has to go on as usual.

  3. I agree with TexWisGirl, at least it is not from a drought. After the maintenance is done, it will be back as beautiful as ever. Have a great day.

  4. You will have to go back, someday.
YThis is a nice view of you deep the lake is, though.

Those are actually cargo ships that are the harbour in my photo.

  9. We used to see this kind of scene a lot when we lived in Tucson...in Sabino Canyon, there was a large dam, and most times just pools of water atop without much running water.
