Shadow Shot Sunday ~ 12-11-11

More Memories from Our Hike

Eloise lost her “special” barrett while hiking in the woods. Her daddy is helping her search for it, but they had no luck. She was sosososo upset.

Gene always carries a special “care package” for emergencies, and in there are lollipops. That seemed to calm her down. She is wearing one of the scarves I knitted years ago out of cashiering. She will not wear anything that is scratchy.

  1. O the poor little thing! Children really treasure loved items and feel such pain when they are missing! Gorgeous photos even though there is an element of sadness!

  2. Sad but beautiful captures, Genie! Those little things that our kids cling to are SO important and as Gemma wrote, so treasured! Wonderful that her daddy had one of those helpful "cures"! What a wonderful, beautiful place to walk! Hope your weekend is going well!

  3. Her barrette was very important to her. And at her age, there was no rationalization, it was important and now seems to be no more. That she was recognized of her loss is what is so important. We as grown-ups can only try to empathize, and the care package of goodies is a thoughtful gesture, that her loss is felt by us - and we will help our kids as much as we can. So nice!

  4. Thank you for your great comment on my Life lesson post. I am like you, I walk away. When students ask me , I tell them too. No violent will solve problems.

  5. Poor Eloise, it is so hard to find little things in fallen leaves. Glad the lollipop helped.
My daughter can wear neither synthetics nor wool against her skin. Soft silk, cashmere and angora usually do the trick.

  6. Awwwwwwwww, this melts my heart. I do hope that it wasn't one of her 'favorites'.

Your hikes are interesting...and dangerous, you're a brave girl crossing the rusty bridges...

  9. beautiful pictures of a poignant moment. I wonder how she will remember it in the future. I hope it includes how her Dad helped her look for it and although they never found it the loss was not as keenly felt as maybe for Mum and Dad understood.
