Here is your update on Buddy’s Long Trail Hike for Monday, 8-8-11.

A Misty Morning near Hancock, Vermont

Buddy’s New Friend at the Hostel/Commune
Yep...that is the trusty red backpack, walking sticks, and a caffeine filled cup of coffee.

More of Bud’s  Misty Morning on the Trail

It looks like you have to sign in wherever you go.

The Cliffs at Brandon Gap

When I spoke to Bud today, he had had a hot shower, gotten a good night’s sleep in the hostel, and played with the local pet chicken. We only spoke for a moment because the signal was breaking up and he needed to hit the trail. He did say the hostel stay was a real treat which gave him time to link his wounds from the days prior. He continues to sound like the happy hiker.

  3. Hiya,
You probably know this, but to me it was a surprise to read that the Appalachian Mountains are the oldest in the world. We're talking billions, rather than millions of years, when I start to go glazed. Not only that: wait for it: the Scottish mountains are off- shoots of the Apps, chunks that sort of floated away from its center. So, I can say that I have climbed about 30 huge lumps of the AT so far in my life . I feel that as a huge achievement :-)

  5. I swear in that first photo of his backpack...it sort of looked like some kind of transformer thing. Could be that I am a bit weary and not thinking straight...still it is kind of funny...I bet I look back at it at a later time and not see a thing.
