Bud left This Morning ~ 8-3-11 ~ The Long Hike

SOOC Genie’s iPhone
Going clockwise around the outside:
 1. Sir: I need to see your ID...
 2. Bud: Genie, I left my driver’s license at the house...
Genie: Be glad I put in your passport...
 3. Don’t lose the passport...pack it back carefully
 4. 21 pounds of dead weight...
 5. Bud: Am I sure I really want to do this...
 6. Genie: Move it! Here comes the train...
 7. Bud...Geeze this pack is heavy
 8. OK...this is my last change to stay in VA
 9. Bud: I can’t back out, now...
10.All Aboard...
11. So long...happy trails, Bud...
12. The station looks so empty...
13. Genie: It surely is a lonesome sunrise this morning with out him...

  2. You're right! Saying goodbye takes longer. Missing someone is the sweetest because the return is much awaited.

MY hounds and I are visiting and extending our drooly hellos!

  3. I saw your comment on TexWisGirl's blog. Boy, you and my wife would get along just fine. She has a few stories she could share with you about me and my driver's license. I am looking forward to updates on his progress as they come availible. Would it be possible for you to post a map of his intended route? That would be interesting to see. Enjoyed these pictures. Thanks.

  4. Will you be posting any pics he takes along the way? I hope so....I read over at the Run around Ranch that you have gone to visit your grand child...can't remember if boy or girl and it was just a second ago I read it...anyway, that is the best medicine for anything that ails you!

  9. Oh Genie, what can I say..
You have presented it with wit and soul.
It reminds me of an expression that has floated around our household over the decades:
    "I'm not liking this".
    Grammatically incorrect, but so apt.

  10. Forgot to say: of course he didn't bring his driver's licence. That would be cheating :-)
This whole thing is so brave, in "a man's gotta do what a man's gotta to do" sort of way. I am so impressed. However far he gets or doesn't get, it is a major undertaking for anybody.

  11. Oh, and of course, we want maps, and place names. I will be following it by getting the "A walk in the woods" book out again. This is so exciting. He's walking for all of us.
