Barn Charm ~ 7-11-11

Side Views of Small Hay Barn at Toad Hall ~ Rockbridge County, VA

“We are running out of time. Can you imagine an America without a barn on the landscape? Is that the America we want?”
~Rod Scott

There are several barns on this piece of property with this one being the closest to the main house. It may look to be in disrepair, but it does have a lot of personality.

This post is linked with Tricia’s Barn Charm.

  2. I'm sure it's completely dangerous to go exploring in this old barn, and yet I'm grateful for its existence, because it provides some people (you, at least) with opportunities to take some great photographs!

  3. Wonderful mosaic and photos of the barn and love the quote. Also enjoyed your other photos... you are doing well on your digital climb! I just love the daisy quote--my favorite flower!

  4. LOVE it! This barn was obviously hand made and took much work. I hate to see them fall apart. Great photo though!

  6. Great barn photos. There's something so beguiling about an old barn, isn't there?

  7. the color of that wood is out-of-this-world beautiful. I know people dis-mantle old barns and salvage the wood, but it never looks as gorgeous any place other than where it once was - as a barn. great shots Genie.

  8. I think it would be fun to join you as you poke around your area, Genie.

For some reason this barn doesn't look all that old to me even though it's in serious disrepair.

  9. That staircase looks in pretty good condition. And this barn has some wide gaps between the boards, even before the boards started falling off.

  16. Your photos are spectacular, Genie! Old barns and outbuildings are some of my favourite things to photograph, too.

I enjoyed your comments on my Belfast post...I do hope you get back to Ireland once more. We emigrated when I was eleven, and it took me until I was almost sixty
before I got back. That's way to long a wait to go home again!

Have a great week, and I look forward to visiting with you again...:)
