Old Farmhouse at Big Spring
Highland Belle ~ Rockbridge County, VA

Highland Belle Elementary School is where my youngest son went to school, and when it became a middle school I taught there myself. Now the school building is the Central Office for Rockbridge County Schools. Since I am our school’s designated “postal carrier,” I see the school, the mountains surrounding it, the fields, and Big Spring at least once each day. As you walk out of the building the first thing you see is the spring, and it is a gorgeous sight. I photograph it is all kinds of weather and light and love documenting its rural beauty. I am working on putting together a picture album for our school superintendent as a retirement present. I taught his boys, have know him and his family for years, and just thought a collection of shots from around his office would make a really neat and unusual gift. Now you see why these photographs of Big Spring and the school keep popping up on my site. My album is an ongoing work in progress.
